Mary Langowski is a partner in DLA Piper's Washington, DC, office, where she chairs the Health Care Policy and Regulatory group and also works in the areas of agriculture and food security.
She has extensive experience providing strategic consultation, developing government relations strategies, identifying business development opportunities and analyzing and interpreting complex policy and regulatory matters. Ms. Langowski has worked with for-profit and nonprofit organizations, as well as both federal and state governments.
Before joining DLA Piper, Ms. Langowski advised clients on a range of domestic policy issues, with special focus in health care policy, food security issues and appropriations.
She served as a managing director at a global AmLaw 100 firm, where she was responsible for the coordination of the advocacy team. In that position, she provided strategic guidance and political intelligence to clients in a range of sectors, particularly concentrating on health care clients such as national associations, health IT organizations, hospitals and health systems, provider groups, corporate entities, universities and large nonprofits. She served as the president of domestic programs and chief operating officer for a nonprofit organization in Jacksonville, Florida, where she oversaw all economic and community development core city initiatives.
She also served as the founder and chief executive officer for The Moxie Group, LLC, providing consulting in the areas of business development, government relations and communications to clients in the education, health care, affordable housing and biotechnology sectors.
Ms. Langowski served as a senior policy advisor to Senator Tom Harkin, managing the senator's health care policy initiatives and priorities, including public health and prevention, Medicare and pharmaceutical policy. She was also a member of the US Senate Agriculture Committee staff and worked on rural economic development issues.
Before joining Senator Harkin's office, Ms. Langowski served as the chief policy advisor at the Iowa Department of Public Health under Governor Tom Vilsack, where she advised the director and the governor on health policy and was responsible for the oversight of federally-funded policy projects. Ms. Langowski has also worked in the private sector on health care quality and cost containment issues with large self-insured businesses in Iowa.
Over the course of her career, Ms. Langowski has provided strategic and policy advising to numerous congressional, senatorial, gubernatorial and presidential political candidates.
