Dr. Jennifer Holmgren
Dr. Jennifer Holmgren is the Chief Executive Officer of LanzaTech leading the company’s global management team and setting the strategic direction. LanzaTech has developed a novel gas to liquid platform for the production of valuable fuels and chemicals using waste gases.
Under her leadership, LanzaTech has developed its product portfolio to include chemicals for the production of polymers, plastics and solvents as well as hydrocarbon fuels to be used as alternative ‘drop in’ aviation fuel.
Since joining LanzaTech in 2010, Dr. Holmgren has successfully completed 2 Joint Ventures in China with leading steel companies, which has accellerated the scale up of the process with 2 demonstration plants in China. She has also established relationships with 8 Global Fortune 500 Companies and successfully led the completion of LanzaTech’s Series C funding round.
Prior to joining LanzaTech, Dr. Holmgren was Vice President and General Manager of the Renewable Energy and Chemicals business unit at UOP LLC, a Honeywell Company. In that role, she led UOP’s renewable business from its inception through to the achievement of significant revenues from the commercialization of multiple novel biofuels technologies.
Dr. Holmgren has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector including a proven track record in the development and commercialization of fuels and chemicals technologies. She currently serves on the boards of The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Biofuels Advisory Committee, the only US national laboratory solely dedicated to advancing and developing renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and practices; EcoMotors, who are developing high-efficiency liquid fuel engines for use anywhere conventional gas or diesel powertrains are utilized; and the Roundtable for Sustainable Biofuels Services Foundation (RSB), where she is involved with the RSB certification process which is now accepted as one of the standards in the biofuels industry.
Jennifer is also on the board of the Governing Council for the Bio Energy Research Institute in India. The institute has been set up by the DBT (Department of Biotechnology, Indian Government) and IOC (Indian Oil Corporation).
Dr. Jennifer Holmgren holds a B.Sc. degree from Harvey Mudd College, a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago. She is the author or co-author of 50 US patents, 20 scientific publications and is the 2003 recipient of the Council for Chemical Research’s (CCR) Malcolm E. Pruitt Award.
